How to Free Align Partition SSD with Aomei Partition Assistant?

When people want to use SSD as the boot drive they usually transfer their old operating system to SSD with some software because OS cloning is not a simple work for most of them. Here comes the issue. As people transfer OS to SSD the software may change SSD into misaligned or even the original OS is misaligned. Most people ignore this kind of issue or do not even know about it. An incorrectly aligned SSD can suffer performance loss up to 50% proved by experiments. And misalignment is fatal to the longevity of SSD. So check and align partition SSD now! You can feel the difference from HDD to SSD.

How to check partition alignment?

Method 1: using "cmd" command

First, in the start menu click "Run". Input "cmd" into the box and click "Ok".

Second, when cmd window appears, input "wmic partition get name, startingoffset" and press "Enter" to check starting offset of disks.

Check starting offset

Third, then input "fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo c:" and press "Enter". Here c can be exchanged into the partition you want to check. Then you find the size of "Bytes Per Cluster".

In windows 7, you can type "msinfo32" into the search box in the start menu and hit "Enter". Then click "Components" > "Storage" > "Disks" to check the "StartingOffset".

If "StartingOffset" is divisible by "Bytes Per Cluster" or 4096 (result is an integer) the partition is aligned. Otherwise, you have to align it correctly.
